Photos show the most comfortable Amtrak accommodation, bedroom

I stayed one night in a private room on an Amtrak sleeper car for $1,000 in October 2021.
With unmatched privacy and space, this is the most comfortable Amtrak accommodation I have booked so far.
Spending 30 hours on a train from Miami to New York was a real luxury.

I’ve taken all sorts of Amtrak trains in different classes. In 2021, I finally booked the most expensive option.

On a trip from Miami to New York, I booked a room in an Amtrak sleeper car, which gave me my own mobile hotel room for 30 hours.

Private rooms are available in sleeper cars for long-distance train rides, like my East Coast trip. At $1,000 for an overnight ride, it was by far the most expensive Amtrak ride I’ve ever booked. (According to a 2024 search of Amtrak reservations, prices range from about $800 to $1,000.)

It was also the most comfortable, thanks to the privacy and space it offered. According to Amtrak’s website, rooms are at least 45.5 square feet, which, for reference, is a bit larger than a standard king-size bed. They can accommodate up to two adults, and mine offered plenty of space for me as a solo traveler.
