I Tried Sabrina Carpenter’s Cherry Baby Perfume for a Week

I Tried Sabrina Carpenter’s Cherry Baby Perfume for a Week

Sabrina Carpenter enters her Short and sweet era — the focus is on sweet. In July, the “Espresso” singer released the third scent in her Sweet Tooth fragrance line, a Cherry Baby scent with notes of cherries, apples, brown sugar, dark chocolate and more.

The red chocolate bar-shaped scent joins Carpenter’s Sweet Tooth and Caramel Dream fragrances in the collection, and when it comes to Cherry Baby, the 25-year-old singer shared that she wanted to create something that was “bold and flirty while still being sophisticated and timeless.” As a fan who’s tried everything from Carpenter’s Van Leeuwen “Espresso” ice cream flavor to her extra-sweet Erewhon smoothie, I had to add her scent to the list.

For the past few months, I’ve been on a quest to find my signature scent, something I think every adult has. After seeing perfume designer @paulreactss sing the praises of Cherry Baby on TikTok, saying it smelled like a dirty Shirley, I was intrigued.

Ahead of Short and sweets album will be released on August 23rd, below is my honest review of Sabrina Carpenter’s Cherry Baby perfume after wearing it for over a week.

Highlights:

Price: You can find the 50 milliliter bottle for $55, 30 milliliters for $30, and 10 milliliters for $10 on Amazon, Scent Beauty, and the Carpenter’s Fragrance by Sabrina website, as well as stores like JCPenney, Rite Aid, The Buckle, and Walmart.

Who is this best for: Lovers of sweet rather than floral scents who want to make someone’s stomach churn when you walk into the room.

What I like: The packaging is a gourmet dream come true (hello, gorgeous chocolate bar).

What I don’t like: The smell fades quickly.

My rating: 4.5/5

Packaging:

I wish I could describe the squeal of joy that escaped my mouth the second I opened the box to discover that the perfume bottle was shaped like a candy bar. Not only does it perfectly fit Carpenter’s Sweet Tooth aesthetic and vibe, Short and sweet album theme, but it’s also so adorable.

This is the kind of bottle you want to display on your vanity and bathroom shelf. Even though it has a rectangular shape, it wasn’t difficult to spray at all.

First impressions:

Beauty of perfumes

The bottle wowed me, but when it comes to perfume, it’s really the scent that counts. According to the press release, Cherry Baby is “a true reflection of Sabrina’s fun spirit and flirty style” with the following notes:

  • Cosmo Cherry
  • Iced apple
  • Plum nectar
  • Brown sugar
  • Red poppy
  • Peony flower
  • Dark chocolate
  • Vanilla orchid
  • Cashmere Wood
  • Sensual Musk
  • Patchouli Elixir
  • Amber resin

Upon first spray, I immediately smelled cherry notes, but not too strong. I usually like to avoid candy, dessert, and fake fruit scents because I want something more natural. However, this one was subtle and sophisticated. It was like a more mature version of Bath & Body Works’ Black Cherry Merlot.

While the fruits gave the main character energy, the creamy vanilla, dark chocolate, and brown sugar were also felt, making it feel like a decadent pastry. I could also smell floral notes, which probably came from the peonies and patchouli.

How to apply:

Application is a matter of personal preference. I like to spray Cherry Baby directly onto my décolletage when I get out of the shower, but you can also spray it directly onto your clothes or pulse points like your wrists and neck.

Is Sabrina Carpenter’s Cherry Baby Perfume Worth It?

For the scent, packaging, and price, Cherry Baby is a fragrance that is definitely worth it to me. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer. This fragrance does a great job of making me feel feminine (read: very reserved, very self-conscious) when I first spray it on, but by the time I leave the house, the scent is almost completely gone.

Sabrina Carpenter

If Carpenter really wanted to create something seductive, it would be the kind of flirtation where a cute guy winks at you at a party and you don’t see him again for the rest of the night. It’s like Cinderella: make a big impression and disappear in a flash.

If I choose a signature scent, I want it to stay “please, please, please” all day long. Overall, Cherry Baby perfectly captures the essence of Carpenter’s Short and sweet album.
