Stephen A. Smith is ready to try weed. The kind that comes in gummy form.

While it’s unclear whether he’s ever smoked weed before—he grew up in New York, so it’s certainly possible—he’s apparently never tried a weed candy, as he said on First take On Thursday, August 22, he said he was ready to follow in his co-host Mike “Mad Dog” Russo’s footsteps and try a gummy candy.

“I might try some candy, though.” SAS told moderator Molly Qerim and co-hosts Dan Orlovsky and Kimberly Martin. “I decided, Molly, that I was going to try some gummies.”

The gummies conversation came up after Smith recalled his debate with Mad Dog over Derek Jeter’s ranking as one of the New York Yankees’ greatest players of all time.

Given Stephen A. Smith’s tendency to turn into a meme when sober, one can only imagine what he would look like stoned. Could you imagine him physically on the sidelines at a Lakers game, but mentally on Mars? That would be must-see TV.

Smith, of course, made “Stay off the weed!” one of his many slogans, which he shouted at players – like Josh Gordon, for example – who were suspended for using the substance.

In recent years, however, as weed has become more legalized across the country, professional sports leagues’ stance on marijuana has softened, resulting in far fewer suspensions than they were five, six, seven years ago.
