17-year-old student missing in Nasarawa

A 17-year-old student of Senior Secondary School 3 of the Federal College of Science and Technology (FGSTC), Doma, Nasarawa State, has been reported missing.

The student, identified as Miss Mercy Dauda, was last seen after attending a Young Catholic Students (YCS) convention at Madonna Girls College in Tudun Kauri, Lafia LGA.

She disappeared shortly after being accompanied by a classmate to board a tricycle at the Tudun Kauri junction around 2pm on Thursday.

His intended destination was Sabon Pegi in Lafia.

Mercy’s father, Mr Philip Dauda, expressed deep concern, saying: “We are shocked as Mercy is never known to stay away from home except when she goes to school as a boarding student.

“She is an honest, disciplined girl who only leaves home to go to church or school. I am sure that wherever Mercy is at the moment, she is disturbed by being away from home.”

Dauda said Mercy’s class teacher encouraged his attendance at the convention, emphasizing his role as a fraternity leader.

The family reported the incident to the police and are praying for his safe return.

The parents have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them on the following numbers: 08064180405 and 08036929807, or to notify the nearest police station.

When contacted, state police spokesperson DSP Ramhan Nansel said the command was not aware of any report filed regarding the incident.
