PM Modi meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in kyiv for bilateral talks

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Ukraine to seek a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The visit, the first by an Indian prime minister, comes nearly six weeks after Indian Prime Minister Modi traveled to Russia to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

India’s position on the conflict

Despite India’s neutral stance on the Russian invasion, Prime Minister Modi stressed India’s hope for a peaceful resolution. “As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region,” he said, reiterating India’s position on the conflict.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi expressed his desire to continue discussions with President Zelensky. He stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, saying, “I look forward to continuing discussions with President Zelensky on strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing views on peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.”

Global reactions
The visit has attracted international attention, with the UN Secretary-General’s office expressing hope that the Indian Prime Minister’s visit could pave the way for an end to the war. The visit is seen as a continuation of India’s diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
