TLC Cancels Concerts After T-Boz’s Medical Diagnosis

TLC has canceled shows following Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins’ recent medical diagnosis.

In a statement shared to the band’s Instagram Stories on Saturday, August 24, Watkins, 54, and bandmate Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas wrote that Watkins “experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps” after a performance in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, August 22.

The singer was immediately seen by a doctor, who diagnosed her with an “abdominal blockage” and advised her to cancel TLC’s performance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, August 23, and a performance on Saturday, August 24, at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Watkins is expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, August 25, according to the statement.

“Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and sincerely apologizes to all of her fans and the event organizers,” TLC said in the statement. “The decision to cancel was made on the advice of her doctor, who asked her to stay in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition,” the statement read.

The band plans to reschedule the cancelled shows in the future.

“TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled concerts and apologizes to all fans, especially those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support,” the statement concluded.

Watkins’ latest health scare came three months after TLC canceled her Canadian tour dates in May because she and members of the cast had the flu.

“We deeply regret to inform you that we must cancel our upcoming date. Unfortunately, a few members of our tour, including T-Boz, have fallen ill with the flu. As a result, she has lost her voice. Doctors have advised her not to perform this week,” TLC said in a statement at the time.
