Meet the first six members of the 2024 U.S. Presidents Cup team

Theegala won his first Fortinet Championship title in September and has since progressed to become one of the best players on the tour, with seven top-10 finishes this season. Theegala struggled at the BMW Championship, including a 79 on Saturday, but he held on to the sixth and final automatic qualifying spot and is set to make his team competition debut.

“It’s a great feeling. I was pretty close to the last two teams, but not quite. On both lists, I was probably somewhere between 14th and 18th. So I knew the feeling of being close, but not doing enough to warrant a pick or something like that,” Theegala said. “It just gave me a little bit more motivation to not only get into the top 12, but really get into the top six and secure it.”

Theegala’s only previous experience in international team competition? At the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup in France, where he represented the United States while playing for Pepperdine University.
