Young artist accuses Baburaj of sexual assault; alleges misleading promises involving Shine Tom Chacko

While the first half of 2024 was marked by blockbuster hits in the Malayalam film industry, the second half does not seem to be a good time for Mollywood, ever since the Hema Commission report was released.

According to Mathrubhumi reports, a junior artist has now presented serious arguments allegations against actor Baburaj, accusing him of sexual assault.

The woman claims that Baburaj Invited her to his house in Aluva on the pretext of discussing a role in a film. According to her, she was made to believe that a scriptwriter and a director were also present at the house, with the promise of an important role in a film.

However, once she reached home, the situation allegedly took a dark turn. The artist claims that Baburaj forced his way into the room where she was resting and sexually assaulted her. She described the encounter as a betrayal, saying that she had trusted Baburaj because of his promises to advance her career. The young artist also suggested that Baburaj had exploited other women in a similar manner, but they had remained silent out of fear.
In response to the allegations, Baburaj denied any wrongdoing, saying he expected to be targeted with such accusations following the recent release of the Hema Committee report, which encouraged more women in the sector to speak out about their experiences of harassment and assault.
In addition to the allegations against Baburaj, the young artist also revealed that she had been contacted by several individuals claiming to offer her a role alongside Shine actor Tom Chacko. These individuals allegedly insisted that Tom Chacko shines he himself had asked them to arrange meetings with her, raising further concerns about possible exploitation within the industry.
This revelation comes in the wake of allegations levelled by actress Minu Muneer against other prominent personalities of the Malayalam film industry including Jayasurya, Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju and Edavela Babu.
