Broncos defender Brandon Jones expected to be ready for opener

Safety Brandon Jones’ first preseason with the Broncos ended without seeing action, but he doesn’t expect his absence from the team’s roster to extend into the regular season.

Jones injured his hamstring on the first day of training camp and began practicing last week. He warmed up in uniform before Sunday’s game against the Cardinals and then spent the rest of the afternoon on the bench.

After the game, Jones said he expected to play against the Seahawks on Sept. 8.

“I should be ready,” Jones said, via Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette.

Jones wasn’t a full-time starter during his four years with the Dolphins, but the Broncos put him on their roster after signing him as a free agent in March. Assuming everything goes well over the next two weeks, they should finally get a chance to see him in that role.
