TLC Cancels Concerts After T-Boz Hospitalized With ‘Severe Abdominal Blockage’

TLC’s T-Boz suffered a medical crisis that forced the girl group to cancel two concerts.

The 54-year-old singer, whose real name is Tionne Watkins, ended up in hospital with a “severe abdominal blockage,” the band said in a statement posted to their Instagram Story over the weekend.

They announced that their shows at the NY State Fair on Friday and at Foxwoods in Connecticut on Saturday were both canceled.

“After delivering an electric performance in Toledo, Ohio on Thursday, TLC looked forward to their next stop at the New York State Fair in Syracuse,” the statement began.

“However, shortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramping. She was immediately examined by a physician and then taken to the hospital for further evaluation.”

“Last night,” the band continued, “Tionne was diagnosed with a severe abdominal obstruction, which required the cancellation of performances in Syracuse and Foxwoods. She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow. The doctor confirmed that it was not food poisoning, but an abdominal obstruction.”

TLC said T-Boz, who is part of the girl group with Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, “deeply regrets having to cancel these concerts and sincerely apologizes to all of her fans and the event organizers.”

“The decision to cancel was taken on the advice of his doctor, who asked him to stay in hospital overnight to undergo a scan to assess the severity of his condition,” the statement said.

TLC promised fans that they were committed to rescheduling both canceled shows at the end of their message.

T-Boz later announced that she was “on the mend” in her own Instagram statement.

“It was just one of those unexpected things that I had no control over,” the “Touch Myself” singer said.

“I look forward to catching up with you all… and hopefully I can be out of the hospital soon,” she added. “Tomorrow if all goes well! Thank you for your understanding… I wish you all happy holidays as always.”

TLC had already rescheduled four concerts in Canada in May after T-Boz and other members of their touring band came down with the flu.

“We deeply regret to inform you that we must cancel our upcoming tour date. Unfortunately, a few members of our tour, including T-Boz, have fallen ill with the flu. As a result, she has lost her voice. Doctors have advised her not to perform this week,” the band said in a statement.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Your support means a lot to us and we look forward to the opportunity to perform for you in the near future,” the statement added.
