If you’re looking to move into a tiny home on wheels full-time, there’s never been a better time than now. If you don’t have the time, skills, or energy to convert a van yourself, there are plenty of companies that can build an off-grid mobile home for you, provided you have the money. One such company is Bellco Vans. Today, I’m checking out one of their recent projects, which surprised me with its high-end build quality.

Today, technology allows us to create installations that will allow you to get away from the electrical grid without worrying about power outages, water or other essentials. The only downside to these machines is that, as expected, they are not cheap: they can easily cost more than $100,000 (89,225 euros).

Bellco Vans is a company specializing in the transformation and manufacturing of vans based in Canada. One of its representatives explained that the company has experience in the field of aeronautical maintenance engineering.

The vehicle I’m talking about today is based on a 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500, the same as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter but with a different badge. It’s the longer version of the model, with a 170″ wheelbase. Also, it was originally an empty cargo van, but it was transformed into a stunning mobile home. Most of the things you’ll see inside this vehicle were created in-house by Bellco.

As usual, I’ll start the tour with the exterior. Bellco Vans didn’t make any drastic changes to the exterior of the vehicle. The company installed two windows and kept the standard white paint. In fact, you might be able to do some stealth camping in this van, but the extra windows can give away the vehicle’s appearance. “camper identity”.

The only other exterior accessories are on the roof, where you’ll find two solar panels with a total capacity of 400W and a Maxxair fan.

The generic exterior of this camper doesn’t match the interior aesthetic. As boring as the exterior looks, the interior is also classy and exciting.

Bellco Vans went for an earthy aesthetic with (sort of) beige walls paired with a slatted ceiling, laminate flooring, and various wood accents, including some beautiful trim. The look is completed with LED light strips carefully integrated into the ceiling, under cabinets, and more.

The van is open, which means that the driver’s cabin is not separated from the rest of the interior. Right in front of the entrance you will find the seating area. It consists of a long sofa that can also be used as a bed. It is equipped with two seat belts, which allows two guests to sit safely while the van is in motion.

There are two ways to use the sofa for sleeping. If you are taller, you can rotate the driver’s seat to support your feet when you are lying down. Or, you can take out a wooden frame and double the width of the sofa to create a larger bed.

Under the sofa, the builders designed two large drawers with soft-closing mechanisms and two kick drawers, perfect for hiding more valuable items.

This is where you can eat or work on your laptop, as a large swivel table can be attached to it. In addition, it is positioned so that it is within reach of both front seats.

Next up, we have the bathroom, located on the driver’s side of the cabin. It features a shower, a stainless steel bowl with teak flooring, a self-cleaning Nautilus door, a portable cassette toilet, and a ceiling fan that helps to remove moisture. You can also hang gear in the bathroom to dry.

Bellco Vans has also included an electrical connection for a fan and a vent pipe in case you want to replace the cassette toilet with a composting toilet.

All of the water in this vehicle is supplied by a 20 gallon fresh water tank mounted under the vehicle. There are two ways to heat the water: via a 12V heater or a coolant heater. The latter uses the vehicle’s coolant while the engine is running, keeping the water warm for 8-10 hours.

The water then drains into a 20-gallon grey water tank, also mounted under the vehicle. One of the drawbacks of installing water tanks under vans is that they can freeze in cold environments. To avoid this problem, Bellco Vans installed heating pads on both tanks.

It’s hard to call a van premium or luxurious if it doesn’t have a well-equipped kitchen. This van’s kitchen features an 8-foot-long worktop with plenty of prep space, a deep stainless steel sink, a small drop-down table, a Breville toaster oven and a built-in two-burner induction cooker.

The latter is placed near the door, at the end of the kitchen counter, so you can enjoy the surrounding view while cooking. In addition, a Maxxair fan above ensures that you do not fill the interior with fumes and odors from cooking.

The builders designed an additional worktop opposite the rear part of the kitchen, incorporating a loading drawer and a small fridge/freezer.

The bedroom occupies the rear portion of this van’s interior. The almost queen-sized bed measures 183 x 167 centimeters and offers plenty of sleeping space. Other notable features of the bedroom include two reading lights with USB ports, a French cleat system for more convenient and accessible storage, and a small window on the passenger side.

And here’s where things get even better: Bellco Vans came up with the clever idea of mounting the bed frame on electric actuators. This allows you to set your preference. But why is this feature so useful?

In fact, the entire space under the bed serves as a garage, which can be accessed from inside the van. Raising the bed makes room for larger items, such as mountain bikes. In fact, you can even store a dirt bike in it when the bed is in its highest position.

On the driver’s side of the garage, Bellco Vans installed the electrical system that allows the rig to operate off-grid. Highlights include four 100Ah lithium batteries, a 3,000W inverter/charger, a 30-amp DC-DC charger, and a charge controller connected to the solar panels on the roof. Of course, the system can also be charged via shore power.

And what about storage? There are plenty of places to stash your stuff. You’ll notice a total of seven hanging cabinets of varying sizes: two above the couch, two above the extra counter, and four large ones in the bedroom. Bellco made sure you wouldn’t suffer too much if you accidentally bumped your head on the cabinets by giving them a rounded edge inspired by airplane cabinets. The kitchen also offers plenty of drawers and cabinets.

Bellco Vans installed a diesel heater at the base of the passenger seat. Three vents throughout the interior will help keep the van nice and warm. One is under the seat, near the heater, while the other two are in the bathroom and in the back, in the garage.

Overall, this tiny home on wheels is definitely ready for off-grid adventures. Not only does it offer countless comfort amenities, but it does so in an aesthetically pleasing way—a combination that’s not easy to find in RVs.

Bellco Vans has listed this van as for sale. Unfortunately, we do not know the price. You will need to contact the company for more information on this.
