A former WWE The Intercontinental Champion recently shared a worrying update, stating that he needs “surgery immediately.” This artist is Marty Jannettywho had to cancel his appearance at an upcoming event in Cleveland, Ohio, due to complications with his oral health.
Jannetty, known for his notable stint alongside Shawn Michaels as The Rockers from 1988 to 1992 in WWE, went on to find success as the Intercontinental Champion. Despite his accomplishments, his career didn’t quite reach the heights of Michaels, who went on to become one of the greatest of all time. Jannetty eventually retired from wrestling in 2018, ending a career that spanned over thirty years.

At 64, Jannetty recently posted a worrying update on Facebook, informing his followers that he needed urgent medical attention. He explained that he had to pull out of the “LIVE Party With Marty” show scheduled for the following night and would not be able to travel to Cleveland due to his condition. Jannetty detailed the situation: “It saddens me to say, and even more to show, that due to the immediate attention required by my doctor, I will not be able to perform the LIVE Party With Marty show tomorrow night. AND, obviously, I will NOT be allowed to fly to Cleveland this weekend. Major oral surgery is coming up tomorrow morning. AFTER FINALLY getting clearance from my ankle doctor through my dentist that we have FINALLY beaten the sepsis and can proceed with oral surgery where my bottom 4 tooth bridge broke after 20 years. As you can see from these embarrassing photos, the anchor teeth have deteriorated to the point where we need emergency surgery immediately or the infection here can spread again and rekindle the sepsis.” Although he expressed disappointment, Jannetty reassured his fans that he plans to return once he overcomes this unforeseen setback.

Brian Costello Believes Marty Jannetty Has Surpassed Shawn Michaels in WWE

Last year, in an interview, former WWE star Brian Costello boldly stated that Marty Jannetty was better than Shawn Michaels. While The Heartbreak Kid is beloved by fans, Costello attributes his success to playing the “political card” at the right time, while Jannetty faced challenges.
“I still get a lot of flak for that. At the time, I always thought Marty was the better worker and he should have gone further (in wrestling). But unfortunately, Marty had demons, and Shawn played the political card and all that, so you see how the careers played out the same way.” said Brian Costello.
