BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) – An off-duty police officer was arrested early Monday morning (August 26) in a drunken driving incident in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

A police officer noticed a vehicle crossing the dividing line on Interstate 110 around 1 a.m. After a traffic stop, the driver was identified as Isaiah Gilbert, 28, of Hammond. Gilbert has been employed at LSP since 2021.

Gilbert was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on charges of improper lane usage, second offense DUI, driving under suspension for certain offenses, simple property damage and open container.

At the time of the arrest, Gilbert was on leave following a separate incident on March 10, where he was arrested for first-offense drunken driving and reckless driving.

Gilbert remains on leave with all previously recovered law enforcement property pending the conclusion of criminal and administrative investigations, LSP said.
