Man caught in police net after being caught dismantling stolen car

The arrest of the 39-year-old man follows an extensive investigation by the Ilupeju division of the police.

It was established that the stolen vehicle had initially been reported missing, prompting an extensive police investigation. Officers from Ilupeju Division were assigned to the case and promptly commenced their investigation.

During their research, they identified leads that eventually led them to Julius.

The suspect was apprehended while he was actively dismantling the stolen Toyota Yaris.

It was discovered that Julius intended to sell the car parts individually, a common tactic used in vehicle thefts to avoid detection and maximize profits.

The rapid intervention of the police allowed the vehicle to be recovered before significant damage was caused.

“Operators of Ilupeju Division, while investigating a report of a Toyota Yaris saloon that was removed from its parked location, arrested Julius ‘m’, aged 39, at Oshodi on Monday.

“The suspect had however started to dismantle the car to sell it for parts as he could not sell it in its entirety. The vehicle has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing,” The command said in a statement through which it revealed the arrest of Julius.

The recovery of the Toyota Yaris and the arrest of Julius is a significant step forward in the Lagos State Police’s ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft and related crimes. The authorities have stressed their commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.

The Lagos State Police Command continues to encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity or crime as community cooperation is key to effectively combating criminal activities. The police has also assured the public of its commitment to combating robberies and other illegal activities, thereby reinforcing its role in protecting the community.

Julius remains in custody while the investigation continues and further legal action is expected as the case progresses.
