The CBI, which is investigating the case, has been looking into his relationship with the Calcutta police.

Meanwhile, as the information emerged in the media and on social media, the Kolkata Police issued a statement.

They admitted that the motorcycle was registered in the name of the police commissioner. However, they said, it was common practice to register all government vehicles in the name of the police commissioner.

“The bike used by Sanjoy Roy – the prime accused in the RG Kar Hospital sexual assault and murder case – which was seized by Kolkata Police before being handed over to the CBI, was registered in the name of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. Some people on social media are trying to create confusion over this. To clarify, all government vehicles belonging to Kolkata Police are officially registered with the Commissioner of Police before being assigned to various units,” the police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The woman was found dead in the hospital’s seminar room on August 9. She had gone there to sleep during her 36-hour shift. Her autopsy revealed rape and 25 internal and external injuries.

Sanjay Roy was seen on CCTV footage later in the corridor at the time of the crime. He was arrested the following day.

According to reports, before committing his crime, Sanjay Roy sexually assaulted another woman on the street. He also frequented two red light districts in the city with his friend, but without having sex. He also drank alcohol.

The psychoanalytic profile of Sanjay Roy, drawn up by CBI sleuths, suggests that he was a pervert and seriously addicted to pornography.
