Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his retirement plans to his fans, saying Al-Nassr will likely be the last club of his career.

Speaking in an interview with Portuguese outlet NOW, the 39-year-old superstar hinted that he has no plans to retire anytime soon despite his contract with the Saudi club expiring at the end of the season.

The legendary striker was surrounded by rumours about the end of his football career after a poor performance with Portugal at Euro 2024.

Previously, Ronaldo had said that the 2024 European Championship would mark the final continental tournament of his illustrious career, which includes more than a thousand matches.

However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has now confirmed he will continue to play at the highest level in the Saudi Pro League, saying: I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years… but I will probably retire here at Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he will not be hanging up his boots in the near future, but it will happen at his current team Al-Nassr.

The 39-year-old forward previously confirmed that Euro 2024 was his sixth and final European Championship.

“I am very happy in this club, I feel good in this country too. I am happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue,” he added.

The Portuguese joined the Saudi side in January 2023 on a deal worth an estimated £175m per year after leaving Manchester United.

Although some fans viewed his move to Saudi Arabia as a retirement from football, he scored 61 goals in 67 appearances while providing 16 assists for his teammates.

Despite his advanced age – he made his national team debut in August 2003 – Ronaldo was a regular starter for Portugal, featuring in five Euro 2024 games but failing to score a single goal.

The team’s head coach Roberto Martinez had previously revealed that no decision had been made regarding the forward’s international future following their direct elimination from the tournament.

Asked when it would be time to hang up his international boots, Ronaldo said: “When I leave the national team, I will not tell anyone in advance.

“It will be a very spontaneous decision on my part, but also a very thoughtful one.

“At the moment I’m not thinking about becoming a coach of the first team or any team.

“It doesn’t even cross my mind, I’ve never thought about it. I don’t see my future going through that.”

The update comes a month after Ronaldo paid tribute to his former Real Madrid and Portugal team-mate Pepe after the centre-back announced his retirement.

After the Euro 2024 knockout defeat, Pepe was seen in tears, with Ronaldo consoling him after the final whistle.

Earlier, reports suggested that Ronaldo had told Al-Nassr management that he wanted to renew his contract until 2027, with the aim of participating in the 2026 World Cup.
