Texas A&M Makes Room for ESPN College Gameday at Aggie Park

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M is making room for ESPN’s College Gameday to move to Aggie Park for this weekend’s game against Notre Dame.

“The park was completely transformed a few years ago and one of the things we did when we built the park was build a lot of infrastructure so that we could easily host a college game day type event,” said Neil Peltier, assistant director of the college center and special events. “We really tailored it so that the experience you have on Saturday morning is absolutely fantastic.”

Ahead of the excitement of Aggie Gameday and ESPN College Gameday, Aggie Park transforms to provide the community with the ultimate tailgate and gameday experience. The lead-up to the event includes extensive community outreach.

Peltier told KBTX that while the University Center and Special Events worked hand-in-hand with ESPN to make College Gameday a success at Aggie Park, the center also worked closely with local vendors to collaborate and adapt to their needs.

“One of the main things we do is work with a lot of local vendors to support the infrastructure for events like these,” Peltier explained. “As a traveling show, they rely on our expertise and knowledge of local people who can help them support these events.”

REVELxp, Texas A&M’s Official Fan Experience Partner, is one of those local businesses. The company sets up and takes down custom tailgates so the Aggies can enjoy their game day at Aggie Park with ease.

“First, we set up the tents… as a team,” explained Hieshall Williams, installer for REVELxp. “Then the next day, we come in… we set up the tables, the chairs, the TVs, the coolers. They even set up fans – everything they need to keep everyone happy and having a good time at the tailgate.”

Williams told KBTX that REVELxp was very happy to see the Aggies enjoy a fun and easy game day thanks to his hard work.

“For me, my biggest goal is to see my process come to an end and people enjoy it,” Williams said. “We like to see people having fun, enjoying it and wanting to remember us.”

Company employees told KBTX they set up about 150 tents in the week leading up to Texas A&M College Gameday.

“We really appreciate everybody’s patience and their ability to adapt to what’s going to happen. We know this isn’t our usual game-day setup, so it’s going to be different. It’s going to be a little different,” Peltier added. “We’re really excited to have them here and we hope everybody comes out and enjoys the experience… These opportunities don’t come around all the time. So come out and enjoy it.”
