Fortnite Player Shocked After Being Given 21,000 V-Bucks After 2-Year Hiatus

A Fortnite player got the surprise of his life when he received 21,000 V-Bucks after returning to the game after a 2-year hiatus.

Free cosmetics, whether from a Battle Pass or a quest-related event, are typical for Fortnite players. In contrast, free V-Bucks from Epic are extremely rare and only appear as part of refunds or active Crew subscriptions.

In one case, however, a player was surprised to see that his V-Bucks balance had jumped to over 21,000 when he returned to the game after a two-year absence. This was significantly more than he had when he abandoned his account in 2022.

FortniteBR subreddit member Eru_Uibo posted an image of his V-Bucks balance, explaining that he stopped playing the game when his V-Bucks balance was around 700 or 800.

The user was surprised when Epic greeted him with a surplus of around 20,000 V-Bucks. While they weren’t sure what happened over time, other Fortnite players offered their own speculations.

One such player said: “There was a small refund a few years ago due to a price change, and they gave people V-bucks back. I think that’s why I don’t remember everything exactly.”

Another argued: “There was no price adjustment mechanism to be able to reach that amount. The lawsuit filed a few years ago, over issues of non-consent to sales to minors, awarded people claims up to $80 maximum, which is equivalent to 13,500 V-Bucks.”

“That wouldn’t explain the 7,715 V-Bucks difference. Unless that’s what they had in their account when they stopped playing. That was the highest amount I’ve heard they could get back, and I accepted that offer as well,” they continued.

Others simply assumed it was money from the user’s current Fortnite Crew subscription that he may have neglected to cancel, and it returned about 20 months’ worth of V-Bucks to his account.

Regardless, it’s always a surprise for Fortnite players when they receive free in-game currency from Epic, which motivates them to continue playing the game. On the other hand, those who exploit and suffer the consequences of Fortnite are left with a negative V-Bucks balance, which is difficult to recover from.
