Man arrested by Lacy Lakeview police after attempting to text and meet minor

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A man was arrested after sending inappropriate messages and attempting to meet a Lacy Lakeview police officer assuming the identity of a 15-year-old girl, according to an affidavit.

Jair Montoya Sanchez, 30, is charged with online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

The affidavit states that a detective with the Lacy Lakeview Police Department was impersonating a 15-year-old girl on Facebook.

On April 17, 18, 19 and 28, the account representing a 15-year-old girl received messages from Montoya, the affidavit states.

The officer had a conversation with Montoya on Aug. 1 and told him he was talking to a 15-year-old girl, according to the affidavit.

Montoya responded on Aug. 3, according to the affidavit, saying “that’s not the kind of reputation I want to have” and “like talking to minors and stuff.”

After that, the affidavit says Montoya changed the message status to “disappearing messages,” meaning messages are deleted 24 hours after they are sent.

Following the change in fleeting messages, the affidavit alleges that the messages became sexual, with Motoya attempting to arrange multiple meetings.

On Aug. 27, Montoya told what he believed to be a 15-year-old girl, “If only you were here, I could use a (bad word) to relieve my stress,” according to the affidavit.

This led Montoya to schedule a meeting during which he described his plans with the girl, including having sex, the affidavit states.

When Montoya was arrested, the affidavit states that a package of condoms was found on Montoya, purchased at the gas station where the arrest took place.

Montoya was booked into the McLennan County Jail and is being held on $10,000 bail.
