Mobile phone thief arrested in Delhi

Delhi Police have arrested a 45-year-old man named Jasbindar Singh for allegedly stealing mobile phones on the pretext of making a call, an officer said on Friday.

Singh, who hails from Patiala in Punjab, would call up insurance and mortgage company executives in Connaught Place, ask for their phones on the pretext that his was not working, and then run away with the devices.

Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner Devesh Kumar Mahla revealed that Singh was involved in five such cases and four stolen mobile phones were recovered from him. The police managed to track down Singh after a victim provided his number and later arrested him from a hotel in Mahipalpur.
