Max Verstappen F1 News: Incident with McLaren rival sparks FIA INVESTIGATION

Oscar Piastri was noted by the stewards for a dangerous exit into the path of an F1 rival and Red Bull star Max Verstappen.

As the first qualifying session got underway at Monza, the drivers were eager to take to the track and set their first lap times around the circuit.

However, McLaren and Piastri were a little too enthusiastic, speeding out of the pits and heading towards Verstappen’s Red Bull, forcing the Dutchman to brake to avoid a collision.

Verstappen gave a characteristic X-rated speech about the incident over team radio after McLaren mechanics missed the Red Bull by letting Piastri go.

Will Oscar Piastri receive a penalty?

The penalty for a dangerous exit in qualifying is usually a financial penalty imposed on the team, if they are found guilty of allowing a driver to move into the path of another car.

Both Williams And Sauber were fined last weekend at the Dutch GP after Alex Albon And Zhou Guanyu were encouraged to carry out dangerous discharges on the roads of Lance Stroll and Daniel Ricciardo respectively – both teams being fined €5,000.

Despite the incident, both drivers managed to qualify for Q2, with Verstappen chasing the McLarens after an already difficult weekend for the champion.
