Man caught in crossfire in Colorado Springs shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – On Monday around 5:10 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed a drive-by shooting near South Academy Blvd. and Chelton Rd.

According to police at the scene, a man was in the passenger seat of the passing car when two people opened fire on each other, hitting him.

Police say a person entered a parking lot and exchanged gunfire with another person. The victim was in a passing car when the second person returned fire.

The victim went to the Loaf-N-Jug at 1900 S. Academy to report his injuries. CSPD said he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the victim was not the intended target. As of Monday evening, no suspects had been identified.

This is an ongoing investigation.
