Free Russian courses offered in Zimbabwe

The Open Education Center of St. Petersburg University in Russia will begin offering free Russian language courses at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) next week.
The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral relations and cultural exchanges between Zimbabwe and Russia, following the establishment of the Open Russian Language Education Centre in Harare last year.
A Russian language expert from St Petersburg University is due to arrive in Zimbabwe on Sunday to teach six programmes focused on developing proficiency in Russian as a foreign language.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Russian Embassy in Zimbabwe stressed that the courses are designed to enhance the competitiveness of students in the global job market.

“Studying Russian provides excellent opportunities to improve one’s competitiveness in the job market and is particularly beneficial for those wishing to pursue higher education in Russia. Classes will begin on September 10 and will be held in person at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare,” the embassy said.

Zimbabwe and Russia continue to strengthen their strong bilateral relations to promote the future development of cultural and educational exchanges.
