Amanda Owen finally confirms former relationship as she and Clive break silence on marriage breakdown – ‘I resented his success’

After a year of speculation, Amanda Owen has finally opened up about her former romance with boyfriend Rob Davies, following her split from husband Clive.

The estranged couple starred in Our Yorkshire Farm, an ITV show that followed their lives with their nine children on their farm, Ravenseat. In a candid new interview, the former couple opened up about how fame affected their marriage and how they each found love again.

Amanda’s new boyfriend was a close friend of the shepherdess and her ex-husband, but she revealed that Clive actually “suggested him as a partner” to her after their divorce in 2022.

She told the MailOnline: “I never looked for another relationship. Rob (Davies) was a friend who Clive and I had known for a long time. He set up the farm website and ran the digital side of the business, things we couldn’t do ourselves.

“What he was proposing was a conversation rather than a confrontation, and Clive knew that from the very beginning – he even suggested that Rob and I would be a good match.

“At that time, a few years ago, Clive was also seeing someone else and openly dating him. It wasn’t a secret; everyone around us knew, even the kids.”

Clive added: “Rob has always been a good friend to us and we’ve known him for a long time. They got together at a time when we were already separated, so I wasn’t shocked or horrified, and it was never an affair in my mind because I was aware of it from the start.

“I was also seeing other people, and no one was chasing me with their cameras and negative stories, calling me a homewrecker.

“So it’s not fair to blame Amanda, because no one could have tried harder than her to maintain our relationship.”

He continued: “I am not exaggerating when I say that the intensity of the scrutiny she was subjected to nearly killed her.”

During the interview, Amanda and Clive both explained that it was fame that ultimately broke them up. Due to her success, Amanda was frequently invited to speak at events, which caused resentment in Clive.

He explained that he felt uncomfortable about no longer being the breadwinner, adding: “It was particularly difficult knowing that Amanda, who is a very beautiful woman, would be going out, all dressed up, to launches and events and meeting other people.

“I resented her for being successful, especially because she was paid more to talk about sheep than I was to raise them. I was jealous and difficult to manage.”

“I was angry and drinking a lot of whisky. It was my way of coping, but it led to arguments and as my behaviour got worse it became too much for Amanda to bear.”

Despite their divorce, the couple remained on good terms and even discussed a “new TV adventure” together.

Amanda said: “This type of relationship – where parents work together and get along but are separated – is not so unusual these days. So we are proud to share our new reality (in every sense of the word) in our next family adventure on television.”
