Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to Help Solve Sept. 5 Homicide

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is working alongside the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office on a homicide investigation in St. Joe.

According to a press release, SCSO notified ASP on Thursday, September 5, 2024 after finding Amanda Stansbery, 43, deceased in her residence.

A welfare check was conducted by officers at the victim’s home on Chipley Road after her husband Jeffrey Stansbery, 75, informed staff that he had injured his wife at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.

He first went to the hospital complaining of a health problem.

Jeffrey Stansberry is currently being held in Branson, Missouri, awaiting extradition to Searcy County.

He was charged with capital murder and mistreatment of a corpse.
