One person arrested and charged with murder after shooting early Saturday

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A person has been arrested for allegedly shooting two people, leaving one dead and another injured early Saturday.

On Saturday morning, shortly before 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to Mt. Zion Church Road in Red Springs for reports of two people being shot.

When the police arrived, they found two people with gunshot wounds.

James Lowery, 19, of Rowland, was taken to an area hospital and died of his injuries and another person was taken to the hospital with their injuries.

According to Robeson County Sheriff James Isaac Hardin’s Office, a 20-year-old Red Springs man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury and discharging a firearm within a precinct to incite fear.

This is an ongoing investigation and MPs say further charges and arrests are likely.
