Adam Sandler announced on Instagram that Happy Gilmore 2 began.

On a photo of his character’s Boston Bruins jersey, tagged with his main character’s name, Sandler captioned it: “This isn’t over. The way I see it…we’re just getting started.”

It wasn’t until May that Sandler confirmed – through his former co-star and TV host Drew Barrymore — that a sequel to the original 1996 film was about to be made.

Netflix quickly followed on May 15, announcing: “It’s been almost 30 years since we last saw Happy Gilmore, the long-wheeled hero who won the 1996 Tour Championship. Now, we can finally reunite with him in a new sequel.”

The streamer added: “Adam Sandler returns to the golf course as Happy Gilmore, and he brings his powerful slap shot with him. No news on the alligators.”

Happy Gilmore 2 will be released on Netflix in 2025.
