Dallas Goedert offered elite advice to Saquon Barkley during his Week 1 triple

“Follow me, baby.” Those of you who didn’t make the trip to Brazil and thus enjoyed the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Green Bay Packers at Peacock heard Dallas Goedert’s advice if you were listening.

That’s what Philly’s TE1 told Saquon Barkley after the former Nittany Lions’ hat trick. Gotta love 4K broadcasts and all those close-ups and camera angles.

What we saw from Saquon Barkley was the best start by an Eagles star since the NFL merger in the 1960s. No disrespect to Terrell Owens in 2004, who threw three TDs, but Saquon was truly masterful. We’re also grateful for the tight end who led the way on his third TD of the night.

You’ve probably watched this highlight 200 times, Saquon Barkley’s third TD in the Eagles’ rookie season win. Watch the Eagles’ offensive line surge and watch him get behind No. 88 in a white jersey for that game.

Reed Blankenship’s second-half interception helped swing the momentum and the pendulum in this game. It allowed Philly to score. Saquon kept moving his legs, but having a teammate like Dallas leading the way is always a good thing.

Some tight ends can block, but they can’t catch to save their lives. Some are great receivers but can’t block. Dallas Goedert is one of the few NFL talents who can do both with elite skill.

Goedert won’t always be the star of the passing attack. Sharing the field with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith has a lot to do with that. There’s only one football, so Dallas wasn’t the centerpiece of the offense in Week 1.

He had a good night, though. He completed four of five passes for 31 receiving yards, and all those great players on the Eagles’ offense will have their game where they’re the heroes.

Goedert’s time is coming. He’s too talented to ignore and we expect a healthy season. In an offense as creative as this one, we expect his first 1,000-yard season.
