Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, who questioned Trump with irony, cries foul: ‘A biased and unfair debate’

Former Fox host and current right-wing podcaster Megyn Kelly — famous for her pointed questions to Donald Trump during his first presidential debate in 2015 — ironically criticized ABC for its harsh questions to Trump on abortion, democracy and the economy during Tuesday’s presidential debate.

During the 90 minutes, facts about Trump were checked by the two moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis.

“These moderators are a disgraceful failure and this is one of the most biased and unfair debates I have ever seen,” Kelly tweeted. “Shame on you.”

Kelly’s comments mirror the MAGA world’s groans on social media following the interrogation.

Sarah Longwell, a pollster and anti-Trump Republican, tweeted: “You know Trump is getting destroyed by the way MAGA complains about referees.”

During that first debate, Kelly, a Fox News moderator, confronted Trump about his misogynistic and sexist comments about women, noting that he had called his targets “fat pigs, dogs, rednecks and disgusting animals.” Trump blasted Kelly, calling her questions “ridiculous” and “off topic.”

The next day, Trump told CNN: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her everywhere.”

It’s a strange relationship.

In September 2023, Trump criticized Kelly, calling her “nasty” just days after interviewing her at length: “She was, you know, my goodness, she got even nastier all of a sudden. She was pretty nasty, don’t you think, everybody who watched her?”

Kelly focused on Trump’s handling of classified documents after he left the White House. She noted that his lawyers signed a document stating they had turned over everything requested in the subpoena, but federal agents discovered other classified documents.

“I don’t know when that’s going to happen. Again, I’d have to check,” Trump said. “I just don’t know when that’s going to happen. All I know is I have a right to have those documents.”

“But once you get a subpoena, you have to serve them,” Kelly said.
