Three arrested for murder of labourer, body found under Masoodpur bridge in national capital

New Delhi (India), September 11 (ANI) Delhi Police have arrested three people for allegedly killing a casual labourer whose body was found under the Masoodpur flyover in the national capital on Tuesday.

Police officials said they received a call on Tuesday night about a body being spotted under the Masoodpur flyover in Vasant Kunj area of ​​southwest Delhi. On reaching the spot, they found a dead body lying next to a tree on the pavement under the flyover.

They said the T-shirt worn by the deceased was stained with blood and a few stab wounds and lacerations were also clearly visible on his chest and abdomen. The police also called the FSL team to the crime scene to collect available evidence. The deceased was identified as John Madrasi and was around 40 years old.

It was revealed that he worked as a casual labourer, taking on small jobs such as unblocking drains and gutters.

Police said teams were deployed to check CCTV footage from the surrounding area and conduct a local investigation into the deceased. The team collected vital clues from the nearby CCTV cameras, where three people were seen fleeing the scene around 6:45 pm.

A team led by SHO/VK South, comprising Inspector Vipin Kumar, ASI Hari Ram and a few other police officials under the supervision of ACP Vasant Kunj Satyajeet Sarin, was able to identify and arrest the three accused.

They have been identified as Aman, a beggar-cum-rag picker residing in Rangpuri Pahadi, Aamir, who works for a company near Narsingpur petrol pump in Haryana and Jeewan, a drummer, also residing in Rangpuri Pahadi.

Police said that interrogation of the accused revealed that Aman and Jeewan had reached near Masoodpur bridge to collect a meagre outstanding amount of Rs 800 that Aamir owed to Jeewan.

Aamir had asked Jeewan to go to the spot and they had started drinking alcohol near some bushes. The deceased had his bed near the place where he had drunk.

The police said the trio was sitting there drinking and also sharing alcohol with the deceased. They said Aman vomited near John’s bed, to which the labourer strongly objected and also resorted to abuse.

According to the authorities, Aman got angry and attacked John by breaking a liquor bottle. Jeewan also attacked and stabbed John with a vegetable knife that belonged to him. (ANI)
