Judge orders suspect accused of shooting man multiple times in Maili held without bail

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The man accused in a shooting at Maili Beach Park was charged Wednesday with attempted murder and four firearms-related offenses.

Honolulu police said Micah Araneta Sr., 49, allegedly shot a 41-year-old man multiple times after he emerged from a tent in the park and approached the suspect.

Authorities said the victim was able to make it to a nearby bus stop, where he was treated by Honolulu EMS and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

During Araneta’s court appearance on Wednesday, the judge ordered him held without bail.

Investigators said the two men knew each other.
