Georgia coach Kirby Smart praised Kentucky QB Brock Vandagriff

Georgia coach Kirby Smart praised Kentucky QB Brock Vandagriff

The Kentucky Wildcats are preparing to host the Georgia Bulldogs in Lexington, and starting quarterback Mark Stoops is a transfer from Georgia. Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff played his entire career at Georgia before moving to Lexington.

Vandagriff was never a starter in Athens, so the former five-star felt it was time for him to go somewhere and play.

In the era of college football transfer portals, many athletes mishandle school transfers, and it appears that’s not the case for Vandagriff. Kirby Smart spoke about how Vandagriff handled the situation, and it appears that Kentucky’s new QB handled it exactly right. Here’s what Coach Smart had to say.

“It was very lighthearted. He understood and had already told us that if Carson came back, he would probably play somewhere else. He was very professional about it. He was very emotional because he loves Georgia. He graduated from Georgia, he won two national championships at Georgia. He made Georgia better, he left Georgia better than he found it.”

While Vandagriff still loves Georgia, he’d like to beat his former school on Saturday, especially after a game against South Carolina where Kentucky’s offense laid an egg.

Kentucky is a huge underdog against the Georgia Bulldogs, but over the years Georgia, while always winning, has struggled in Lexington. The Wildcats could cover the +24 spread in this football game if the offense is better than it was a week ago.
