James McAvoy He became a little perplexed when he met his favorite celebrity, Jennifer Aniston.

In the Wednesday, September 11 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy CohenTHE Don’t say anything bad The 45-year-old star recalled meeting Aniston at a party when he first moved to Los Angeles and said it didn’t go well.

“I met her and it wasn’t great,” he said, quickly adding that it wasn’t “because she’s not great.”

On the contrary, the Scottish star was dazzled.

“I was at a party when I was really young. I was 22 in Los Angeles. And I met Lucy Liu “And Lucy Liu was really, really nice to me. She said, ‘Come meet my friends.’ There was a big circle of friends among them, and one of them happened to be Jennifer Aniston, and I parked right next to Jennifer Aniston,” McAvoy recalled.

He continued: “And just as (Liu) was saying, ‘Hey guys, this is my new friend James’… instead of saying that, she got pulled aside by this guy she went to high school with and left. I found myself standing there with all these people saying, ‘Hey, what’s up, I’m new in town.'”

To make matters even more awkward, he said he turned to Aniston, 55, and said, “So you’re Jennifer Aniston and you’re in Friends.”

McAvoy turned away from the camera for a moment to hide his embarrassment before adding: “It was hard. But she was lovely.”

Schwimmer detailed the nature of their relationship, insisting that it never went beyond friendship. “I think at one point we were both very much in love with each other, but it was like two ships passing each other because one of us was always in a relationship, and we never crossed that line,” he said. “We respected that.”

“I remember saying to David one day, ‘It would be a shame if the first time you and I kissed was on national television,'” the actress said. “The first time we kissed, it was in that coffee shop. We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
