– Kenney Enney has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District board of trustees. Enney, a current trustee, won a special election last year following a revocation of his appointment and is now looking to continue his efforts to return the district to what he calls a “district of excellence.”

During his tenure, Enney implemented several initiatives. He noted that bus ridership more than doubled, improving student accessibility. He also ensured that the American flag was displayed in every classroom and promoted celebrations such as Constitution Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day to emphasize patriotism. Additionally, he addressed campus maintenance issues, bringing them to the attention of the Board of Trustees, and pushed for an emphasis on academics, financial responsibility, drug testing, and the addition of school resource officers (SROs).

“This work is too important to be complacent about an ‘everyone gets along’ mentality. Our mission is to provide direction and oversight. We must hold the system accountable to truly achieve excellence,” Enney said.

“Kenney has a gift for forcing boards to have difficult discussions they don’t want to have. He does it in a non-confrontational, non-aggressive way that elevates the discussion and leaves emotion and politics aside,” said PRJUSD Trustee Dorian Baker. “That’s a gift he brings to the table from his experience as a military officer.”

Enney emphasized his ability to collaborate with diverse voices, even those who initially opposed his nomination. Referring to his previous deployments to Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said, “There were many times during my deployment that I had to sit down and have tea with the Taliban. We had to have difficult conversations.” He added, “During my short tenure, I worked with all sorts of people, including the very people who forced my recall election last year. I was the administrator they turned to when they needed help because I got results.”

Enney remains focused on the district’s challenges. “Years of weak leadership have left our students uninspired, our campuses dilapidated and our finances in disarray. I’ve identified the key issues and am ready to help make PRJUSD the district our community deserves,” he said.
