CHICAGO (CBS) — Columbia College students will see fewer programs offered by the institution next year. The institution is currently evaluating its offerings that will result in either phasing out or combining some programs.

A school spokesperson said in a statement: “These proactive steps are designed to make Columbia even more attractive to young creatives and to help them succeed after graduation.”

The goal is to reduce the number of programs from 58 to 40. The college will work with students who will be impacted by this measure to create a completion pathway for all students.

“Our goal is to better serve our current and future students, while investing in future programs that keep our programmatic relevance current. We believe these actions will position Columbia College Chicago as a stronger institution and continue to enable our students to excel in their creative careers,” the spokesperson said.

The college is still considering which programs will be combined. A final decision on the program will be announced in early 2025.
