Expect the Irish to play with anger

Expect the Irish to play with anger

The best thing Notre Dame can do right now is hit someone else

Notre Dame nation is still struggling to piece together not only what happened last week against Northern Illinois, but how it happened. This week has been very awkward for everyone involved with the program. That includes players, coaches, fans and the media.

There is nothing that can be done to undo the horrors of last week, all that can be done is to prevent it from happening again. The best thing for the Irish players is to be able to go and face the Boilermakers.

Take your frustration out on someone else.

If there was a week for a flying start, this would be it.

Notre Dame has played two games that have come down to the wire. They’ve left absolutely no room to maneuver. I don’t know if it’s likely or possible, but it would be really nice to see the Irish take a comfortable lead.

Notre Dame will be playing under a unique type of scrutiny this week, and a hot start would go a long way toward calming everyone’s nerves and anxiety a bit.

While I expect the Notre Dame defense to struggle to find itself and hopefully find some semblance of a passing game, I’m more confident the Irish defense will anchor the day.

I expect them to get back to running more smoothly and being able to get off the field in third-down situations like we were used to doing before last week’s performance.
