NJ Pizza Masters Named World’s Best Pizzeria by Italian Website

A New Jersey native has been honored with a gigantic title: serving the world’s best pizza.

50 Top Pizza, an Italian website that annually ranks the world’s pizzas, recently released its list of the 50 best pizzerias in the world for 2024. While no Garden State pizzeria made the list, Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City was recognized as the best.

Mangieri, a Beachwood native, opened the now-closed Sant Arsenio in Red Bank in 1993 and opened the first Una Pizza Napoletana in Point Pleasant in 1996 before moving to Manhattan’s East Village in 2004.

After moving to San Francisco in 2010, the store returned to the Lower East Side in 2018. A store also opened in Atlantic Highlands in 2020, but closed in 2021.

Earlier this summer, 50 Top Pizza released its list of the 50 best pizzerias in the United States for 2024. In addition to Una Pizza Napoletana, two of the state’s top pizzerias also made the list.
