National Trust under fire over artwork that resembles ‘pile of poop’

They said: ‘I find this exhibition absolutely disgusting.

“I don’t see what this has to do with the National Trust, Tyntesfield, the Gibbs family or, for that matter, anything.

“Why waste a heritage site with this? I have American visitors arriving shortly and this place is now off the list.

“If it’s going to be installed, why not put it in a separate building somewhere for people who appreciate that kind of ‘art’.”

“Parents are being warned that their children might be upset by this… is that what we want?”

Other reviewers were more positive about the exhibition, describing it as thought-provoking and “visually stunning.”

One person said: “It adds something to an austere Victorian environment that is thought provoking and visually stunning.

“I can understand that this may not be to everyone’s taste, but people don’t seem keen to share the Tyntesfield environment with more open-minded visitors.

“It doesn’t cause any permanent damage, but it does temporarily open a window onto different perspectives.”
