Revanth Reddy’s ‘East India Company’ now on govt contracts list – Telangana Today

Hyderabad: Not long ago, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the then chairman of TPCC, had called Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) an “East India Company” and alleged that the company was “looting the state through commissions”. Interestingly, the same company has now been shortlisted as the lowest bidder for Revanth Reddy’s pet project, the Narayanpet – Kodangal Lift Irrigation (NKLI) works package.

Old videos of Revanth Reddy’s rant against MEIL MD PV Krishna Reddy and his company are being widely shared on various social media platforms, with the news that MEIL is in the running for the contract. Sharing one such video, an X user @BharathMBNR said, “Till yesterday, Revanth Reddy was accusing Megha Krishna Reddy of being a thief. Interestingly, the same company is being offered a contract from Narayanpet Kodangal with a franchise of 3.95%…”

“Why false charges were levelled against BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao? Is Megha not a thief anymore?” @BharathMBNR further asked.

MEIL is not the only company that is in the limelight currently. Raghava Constructions, owned by the family of revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has been shortlisted as the lowest bidder for another package under the NKLI. A total of four companies had submitted bids for the two packages under the NKLI at an estimated cost of Rs 4,350 crore. While the other two companies were declared ineligible during the technical evaluation of the bids, Megha and Raghava Constructions were shortlisted for the work in the price bids.

Again, for Package I, estimated to cost Rs 1,134.62 crore, Raghava Constructions quoted 3.9 per cent higher than the bids. It was declared as the lowest bidder 1 and Megha, which quoted 4.85 per cent higher, was declared as the lowest bidder 2.

Similarly, for Package II, estimated to cost Rs 1,126.85 crore, Megha bid 3.95 per cent higher than the bids. It was shortlisted as the lowest bidder 1 and Raghava Constructions, which bid 4.80 per cent higher, was declared the lowest bidder 2. Typically, the lowest bidder 1 is offered the contract.

Apart from his old videos on the ‘East India Company’, netizens are also questioning Revanth Reddy’s change of heart towards contractors from Andhra Pradesh. Videos of Revanth Reddy alleging that contractors from AP were also being offered different work in Telangana are now doing the rounds. In one such video, Revanth Reddy is seen pointing out that the architect of Yadadri temple Anand Sai was from AP, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy was from AP and Hyderabad Metro Rail’s Managing Director NVS Reddy was from Rajamundry, also in AP.
