Burke County School System Announces District Teacher of the Year

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Burke County Public School system has won the district’s Teacher of the Year award.

According to the school system, Kacey Mitchell of Waynesboro Elementary School has won the Burke County Public School District’s 2025 Teacher of the Year award.

She was announced the winner at the Burke County High School football game Friday night.

“This is a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion our teachers bring to the classroom every day. We are extremely grateful for their commitment to our students and our school community,” Waynesboro Elementary School said in a Facebook post.

Jeremy Brown of Burke County High School
Tara Gilpin of Burke County High School
Jodi Jarvis of SGA Elementary School
