After Ole Miss rolled to a 40-6 victory over Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday. The Rebels’ trip east was part of a planned round-trip. Except the return game apparently won’t happen.

That’s what Ole Miss head coach says Lane Kiffin said after the win, at least. He told reporters that the Demon Deacons had chosen to “buy out” the remainder of the contract and, therefore, the return trip to Oxford, according to Brad Logan.

This match was scheduled for September 13, 2025.

In Saturday’s game, Ole Miss took an early lead, jumping out to a 20-3 lead after the first quarter before cruising for the remainder of the game. Jaxson Dart The Rebels threw for 377 yards and ran for 272.

But, in addition to leaving North Carolina without a game on the schedule in 2025, the Rebels have also seen a number of players go down with injuries.

Defensive end Jared Ivey was taken to the locker room after injured in the second half against Wake Forest on Saturday. Ivey was injured in the third quarter and had to be helped off the field by the Rebels’ training staff.

He was taken to the injured tent, where he stayed for a while to try to get ready to return to the game. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, as the CW reporter stated. Treavor Scales offered an update with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

“We’ve been watching Jared Ivey’s progress, or lack thereof,” he said. “Unfortunately, we saw a cart come and pick him up from the casualty tent. We’ll continue to wait for him to return.”

In addition, the receiver Tre Harris was taken to the locker room after suffers an injury on Saturday against Wake Forest. Harris limped off after catching a ball with about six minutes left in the third quarter.

The receiver ran to the sideline under his own power, but was later seen walking toward the locker room with sneakers on. This caused a scare for Rebels fans as the senior is one of the best wide receivers on the roster.

Fortunately, Harris didn’t stay in the locker room for too long before returning to the bench. He returned to play shortly after, so it appears his injury wasn’t serious.
