‘Ferdie’ Silencer Proves Deadly, Killing Six – NDRRMC

Tropical storm “Ferdie” killed six people in the short time it ravaged the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday (September 15).

The NDRRMC said four of the deaths were recorded in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) while the remaining two deaths were recorded in the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9).

The disaster management council said the reported casualties were still being validated.

Additionally, two people were also reported missing, one in Western Visayas (Region 6) and one in Region 9.

Eleven people were also injured: nine in BARMM and two in Soccsksargen (Region 12).

Ferdie, which entered the Philippine area of ​​responsibility on Friday night and left before dawn on Saturday, also affected 47,166 families comprising 203,197 people.

There are still 3,528 families, or 13,825 people, staying in evacuation centers, while 4,720 families, or 22,801 people, are staying in other people’s shelters after being displaced.
