Railway board keeps silent on viral video showing broken window of Vande Bharat train

A 14-second video showing a man breaking the window of a parked Vande Bharat train has gone viral, raising questions about standard maintenance procedures and prompting calls for an official clarification from the Railway Board. The video, posted by Megh Updates on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on September 10, has been viewed over 900,000 times and shared over 6,000 times on social media platforms, including Facebook.

In the video, a well-dressed individual is seen using a hammer to break the window of the train, which is in a maintenance pit. According to sources close to the railway industry, this action is part of a routine procedure for replacing the glass panels of the Vande Bharat Express. An unnamed official confirmed that breaking the glass is a standard part of the maintenance process, facilitating the installation of new panels.

Despite clarifications from industry insiders, the railway board has yet to issue an official statement or response regarding the video. Efforts by FPJ to contact the railway board’s information director and the railway minister’s office for a statement were unsuccessful.

The lack of official reaction has fueled debate among rail industry professionals and Internet users. While some interpret the video as a normal maintenance operation, others are calling for an investigation to ensure that no irregularities have been committed.

Stakeholders and regular users of the network are calling on the Railway Board to provide a transparent explanation to address concerns and clear any confusion generated by the release of the video. One user stressed the need for an official clarification, saying: “The railway authorities must issue an official clarification on this issue.”

As the video continues to spread, the call for a formal response from the Railway Board remains unanswered, leaving many questions about the maintenance practices of the Vande Bharat Express unanswered.
