Baltimore Ravens set to face Las Vegas Raiders

If the Baltimore Ravens defense wants to bounce back from its Week 1 performance, they know who they need to stop against the Las Vegas Raiders offense.

Raiders receiver Davante Adams has been the focus of the Ravens’ attention heading into Sunday. Ravens All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton has highlighted Adams’ impact on the game and praised his place among the receivers of his generation.

“He’s definitely one of the best receivers of our generation,” Hamilton said. “He’s someone I grew up watching. He and Aaron Rodgers always seemed to be on the same page. He’s one of the best at the position. We have the utmost respect for him and everything he’s done. It’s going to be a challenge for us to go up against him and everyone else on the team.”

Adams is a three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. He has also had at least 100 receptions and over 1,100 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons and five of the last six. The only season he hasn’t reached those records in the last six seasons, he played in just 12 games and caught 83 passes for 997 yards.

Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns twice and caught double-digit touchdowns in six of his 10 NFL seasons.

In addition to slowing Adams, Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr has also focused on limiting the Raiders’ big plays. In Baltimore’s 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 5, that allowed quarterback Patrick Mahomes to complete five passes of at least 20 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown to rookie receiver Xavier Worthy.

“We gave up too many explosive plays in Week 1, we have to limit them,” Orr said. “They have great playmakers. We have to be able to cover their talent and stop the run. I think if we stop the run and cover their talent — obviously, you’re talking about Davante Adams — he’s one of the best receivers in this league.”

The Ravens and Raiders will face off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at M&T Bank Stadium.
