Madison County Man Arrested for Alleged Murder, Assault

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Jared Boggs, 33, faces multiple charges after police were called to the area of the 2700 block of Doylesville Road around 12:30 a.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired and a vehicle collision.

According to a Facebook post by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, police arrived at the scene and found Boggs, who was later identified, disarmed by two parties.

Boggs “walked toward Deputy (Josh) Foster with one hand behind his back while making threatening statements” as Foster gave several verbal commands, the message states.

Boggs then walked to the passenger side of Foster’s car, where he “attempted to remove the department-issued AR-15 mounted between the seats.” When he was unsuccessful, Boggs surrendered.

An investigation revealed that before police arrived, Boggs had arrived in the area to confront his wife, Hillary Snowden, and her boyfriend, Kurtis Smith. Boggs struck Snowden with his vehicle, before crashing into another parked car.

As he exited his vehicle, Boggs “pointed his gun” at the two individuals when a third individual, Luther Lainhart, exited his residence and ordered Boggs to leave. Upon doing so, Boggs then waited on the road for Snowden and Smith.

As they left the area, both saw Boggs waiting for them. At that point, “Boggs charged toward them as they began to retreat, hitting the vehicle which overturned into the creek.”

Boggs exited his vehicle again, drew his handgun and exchanged gunfire with Lainhart. He then entered the creek and handed his gun to Snowden.

Boggs is being held at the Madison County Detention Center. He is charged with:

  • Attempted murder.
  • First degree assault.
  • First degree willful endangerment.
  • First Degree Criminal Mischief
  • First degree assault – domestic violence.
  • Third degree terrorist threat.
  • Disarming a police officer (attempt).
