Inter Miami’s second goal was a near-perfect replica of FC Barcelona’s iconic goal against Tottenham Hotspurs in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League season.

It was Lionel Messi who started the build-up to the goal, and Jordi Alba’s cross from the left was deposited into the path of Luis Suarez, who feinted over the ball, which presented Lionel Messi with a great opportunity to score at Hugo Lloris’ near post.

An Instagram user posted a video of the two goals, and the video has now gone viral.

Inter Miami vs Philadelphia Union MLS 2024: HIGHLIGHTS

Lionel Messi was greeted with cheers throughout the stadium as he took to the pitch in an Inter Miami shirt for the first time since June 1, after an injury during the 2024 Copa America final sidelined him for nearly two months.

However, the home side had a frenetic start to the game, with a lack of composure at the back allowing Philadelphia Union to score a goal inside 60 seconds.

Lionel Messi took charge, scoring a sublime goal, assisted by Luis Suarez, in the 26th minute to make it 1-1, and followed that up with another goal in the next 4 minutes, allowing Inter Miami to go from 0-1 to 2-1 in the space of 5 minutes.

The home side were saved in the dying minutes of the game as a Sergio Busquets blunder almost handed the visitors an equaliser, but Drake Callender did an outstanding job to deny the Philadelphia Union a second goal.

In the dying seconds of the match, a high ball met Lionel Messi in the middle, outside the box, but the Argentine generously passed the ball to his close friend Luis Suarez, who finished the move with a brilliant strike, as Inter Miami sealed the game 3-1.
