Indiana high school football Week 4 top performers, players, stats

IHSAA football roundup: Week 4 highlights, and some absolutely eye-popping stats

Hayden Cler, Guerin Catholic: You will see a few Brebeuf Jesuit and Guerin Catholic players mentioned here after Brebeuf’s 69-62 win on Friday. Cler had 26 receptions for 396 yards and six TD receptions in the Guerin loss. Absolutely crazy.

Devin Craig, Lapel: Craig, a junior, broke the career school record for touchdown passes in Lapel’s 42-12 victory over Indian Creek. Craig went 21-for-26 passing for 355 yards and five TDs with no interceptions. In four games, Craig has 1,214 passing yards and 14 TDs.

Xavier Dangerfield, Cathedral: The sophomore running back carried 26 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-7 victory over Bishop Chatard.

CJ Harris, Brebeuf Jesuit: Harris ran for a school record 402 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries in Brebeuf’s beyond wild 69-62 victory over Guerin Catholic. He also caught two passes for 26 yards.

Eugene Hilton, Zionsville: The senior Wisconsin commit caught five passes for 110 yards and three TDs in Zionsville’s 35-21 victory over Franklin Central.

Malcolm Houze, Guerin Catholic: How about 638 passing yards? Holy moly. Houze was 40-for-56 for 638 yards and eight touchdowns and three interceptions in Guerin Catholic’s 69-62 loss to Brebeuf Jesuit. Those are season numbers for some teams.

Keith Jackson Jr., Warren Central: The senior returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown and threw a 3-yard TD pass to Damien Shanklin in Warren Central’s 35-0 victory over Lawrence Central.

Jeremiah Lee, Beech Grove: The senior running back had three rushing touchdowns and a punt return for a score as Beech Grove rallied for a 26-14 win over Scecina.

Martinsville team: We don’t often allow team selections but if you are going to make an exception, Martinsville is certainly deserving. The Artesians rallied from a 35-0 deficit in the second quarter and down 38-7 with six minutes left in the second quarter for a 39-38 win over Decatur Central. AJ Reynolds was 16-for-28 passing for 258 yards and four TDs in the win.

Eli Nix, Heritage Christian: The junior quarterback was 22-for-31 passing for 304 yards and six TDs and ran for 109 yards and three TDs on 19 carries in a 63-33 win over Eastern Hancock.

Brandon Potter, Western Boone: The senior quarterback was 11-for-16 passing for 126 yards and the go-ahead touchdown to Marcus Fortner in the final minute for a 21-17 win over 3A top-10 Tri-West.

Gunner Ruppert, Greenwood: Ruppert ran for 334 yards and two TDs in Greenwood’s 40-27 win over Mooresville. He also passed for a touchdown.

Jace Scrafton, Danville: The senior receiver had eight catches for 140 yards and three touchdowns in Danville’s 38-7 win over Hamilton Heights.

Landon Shuck, Scottsburg: The running back carried the load for Scottsburg in a 56-21 win over Corydon Central with 39 carries for 346 yards and one TD.

Ryan Thembulembu, Fishers: Fishers took the Mudsock game against rival Hamilton Southeastern in a 37-35 thriller. Thembulembu had a big hand in the victory with 28 carries for 163 yards and two TDs and three catches for 30 yards and another score.

Westyn Weyrich, Plainfield: The senior carried 17 times for 131 yards in Plainfield’s 35-12 victory over Perry Meridian and set the school record with five TDs. He also caught two passes for 27 yards.
