Country music legend’s message to fans after near-death experience: ‘I’m back’

It’s been just over a week since country singer Mark Chesnutt made his dramatic return to the stage, just months after undergoing life-saving surgery, and now the star is reaching out to his fans with a message.

He did so via a video, including clips of him playing at recent concerts, and a promise on Instagram.

“We apologize for the mess that has been going on on the site since we were hacked,” he wrote. “But here are some excerpts to reassure you and answer your questions about whether or not the other shows will go ahead this year… I’m back.”

Chesnutt fans surely love hearing those words.

Chesnutt, who turned 61 earlier this month, underwent quadruple coronary artery bypass surgery in June.

His medical concerns came just months after he was forced to cancel two concerts last November. A message posted on his X account, formerly Twitter, at the time said he was “undergoing medical evaluation after being admitted to a local hospital.”

Chesnutt rose to stardom in the early 1990s and has a long list of hit albums and songs in his catalog. Of these, Chesnutt has had 20 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Eight of those 20 songs—”Brother Jukebox,” “It Sure Is Monday,” “I’ll Think of Something,” “I Just Wanted You to Know,” “Gonna Get a Life,” “Almost Goodbye,” “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” and “It’s a Little Too Late”—all reached number one on the charts.
