Message from Scott Lemn after his historic victory against Southern Virginia

BRIDGEWATER, Va. (WHSV) – It’s rare for a college football team to win a scoreless, penalty-free 80-0 game. In fact, for Bridgewater, it’s never been done since the team first played in 1899.

After Saturday’s win over Southern Virginia, head coach Scott Lemn praised his team’s response from a season-opening loss but stressed it won’t get any easier going forward.

“When you see your potential come to light in a game, it’s something you always take pride in,” Lemn said. “We’ve got eight games ahead of us. We’ve got a new opponent coming in this week, and that new opponent is going to see the score. Hopefully that sends a message, but at the same time, we’re going to have to compete. We can’t expect that when we win a game in a big way, other teams are going to look around and say, ‘Okay, we’re going to lose to the Eagles.’”

Lemn and the Eagles will hit the road on Sept. 21 to take on Millsaps College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
