Mahindra Veero light utility vehicle launched in India at Rs 7.99 lakhs

Automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra today launched the Veero light commercial vehicle (LCV) at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned in the 2-3.5 tonne category, the Mahindra Veero is based on the new Urban Prosper Platform (UPP), which is CV’s first multi-energy modular platform in India and can spawn both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric models.

The Veero is designed to support payloads of 1 to 2 tonnes and more across multiple deck lengths and can accommodate multiple powertrain options including diesel, CNG and electric. Currently, the Veero is available with diesel and CNG powertrains. While there will be an electric version, Mahindra has not disclosed the timeline for its market entry.

The new LCV is offered in two engine variants: the 1.5-litre mDI diesel (80 PS of max power and 210 Nm of peak torque) and the mCNG turbo (90 PS of max power and 210 Nm of peak torque). Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The claimed mileage is 18.4 km/l for the Veero diesel and 19.2 km/kg for the Veero CNG, which has a claimed range of over 500 km with an additional 5-litre fuel tank. Mahindra claims a service interval of 20,000 km for the Veero.

The Veero has customizable loading options. There are two loading lengths: 2,765 mm (XL) and 3,035 mm (XXL). You get three loading types: CBC, Standard Deck (SD) and High Deck (HD). The payload capacity is up to 1.6 tonnes for the diesel version and 1.5 tonnes for the CNG version. The Veero’s turning radius of 5.1 metres is considered the best in the segment.

As for the trims, there are three: V2, V4 and V6. Below are the prices of the Mahindra Veero by variant (ex-showroom).

  1. V2 CBC XL – Rs 7.99 lakhs
  2. V2 SD XL – Rs. 8.49 lakhs
  3. V2 CBC XXL – Rs 8.54 lakhs

The cabin, chassis and body are made of high-strength steel (HSS). The vehicle also comes with a driver airbag, a rear view camera, an anti-false start system and an immobilizer.

Inside the cabin, you get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, climate control with heater and defogger, steering mounted controls, a full TFT instrument cluster and power windows.
